Broadband penetration in Europe is at 13%

Only 13% of the EU population (about 25% of households) have broadband access, according to EU. The Netherlands, Denmark and Finland have the highest penetration rates (between 20% and 25%), followed by Sweden (19%), Belgium (18%), Britain and France (both 15%) and Luxembourg (14%).

Only 13% of the EU population (about 25% of households) have broadband access, according to EU. The Netherlands, Denmark and Finland have the highest penetration rates (between 20% and 25%), followed by Sweden (19%), Belgium (18%), Britain and France (both 15%) and Luxembourg (14%). The other 19 nations are below the EU average of 15%, especially the newcomer nations but also Italy and Spain, where broadband reaches only 10% of the population.
