Brother dials up 'Web conference in a box'

Summary:The bundle includes a high-definition Web camera, speakerphone and four months of the OmniJoin basic service.

Seeking to spur sales of its OmniJoin Web conferencing service among small and midsize businesses (SMBs), Brother International has assembled a pre-packaged set of peripherals that make it easier to set up and use. Yes, it's far more than just a multi-function printer vendor.

The company's OmniJoin Web Conferencing in a Box offering includes a high-definition Webcam, compact USB speakerphone and four months of the OmniJoin basic service.

OmniJoin has been available since June 2012 as a standalone service. It includes collaboration features such as screensharing, cloud storage (for recording and archiving meetings), whiteboards, chat and the ability to customize views. The basic service starts at $49 per month, for hosting meetings with up to 30 attendees.

The company doesn't publish a suggested list price for the bundle, which started shipping in June 2013, but I was about to find it at online retailers for $135 to $170.
