The telco has made a £15.8m cash offer to acquire the business with the deal still subject to approval from Brightview shareholders.

Brightview was established in 2001 and currently claims to have around 62,000 broadband customers, generating revenues of £11m in the year ending 30 June 2007.

Brightview operates the Global Internet, Madasafish and Waitrose ISP brands and is currently working with the John Lewis Partnership to launch the 'GreenBee' broadband and telephony service.

BT Retail chief executive Ian Livingston said the acquisition will mean Brightview customers will benefit from BT services, resources and technology combined with the "excellent" customer service they already receive.
