Users had reported problems when moving the Microsoft Office 98 folder to the Extensions Folder, which in some cases, resulted in the OS being bought down. Matthew Price, the group product manager at Microsoft responsible for Mac Office 98 described the bug on Friday as being "isolated but serious".

A Microsoft spokesperson told ZDNet News UK: "Microsoft is aware of the problem and it will be fixed in new shipping versions. A download is available to fix the problem for existing users." Apple's UK press spokeperson was seeking comment from the company this afternoon.
