Buyer secured for AsiaPAC’s customer services

The administrator of telecommunications wholesaler, AsiaPAC Communications Group and its subsidiaries iBoss and One Telecom, announced today that it had secured a buyer for the three companies' "customer-related services".

According to administrators Stewart McCallum and John Lindholm of Melbourne's Ferrier Hodgson, a buyer was secured late on Monday afternoon, after a weekend search for parties interested in the sale of the companies.

"Since Friday, they have been working through the weekend to try and sell the customer-related services of the company and the sales process has been very successful," a spokesperson for Ferrier Hodgson told ZDNet. "They are expected to complete the sales process today. We are hoping that this will result in the least possible interruption to the customers."

The spokesperson would not reveal the identity of the buyer, but said that there is a possibility it would be made public within the next few days.

Thousands of users were disconnected after AsiaPAC and its companies, iBoss and One Telecom were placed into administration last Friday following a court order by the Victorian Supreme Court. It is understood that up to 10,000 customers were affected.

After overcoming an outage on 29 April, One Telecom's One Seniors' business posted a message on its Facebook page on 3 May telling customers that the supplier for its internet, mobile and broadband services did not have the "ability to continue supply".

"As communicated yesterday, One Seniors appointed administrators on Friday evening due to our supplier not being able to supply services. Our supplier had their services suspended which affected the services supplied to One Seniors. This was done without notice," the company posted on its Facebook page on 4 May.

"Not all services have been affected, in part due to our supply arrangement with another company. As such mobile has not been affected which we have managed directly," it said.

Today, the company told customers that it could not offer a time-frame within which services would be restored.

The administration follows the sale in September last year of ISPOne's assets to Melbourne-based telecommunications provider, CONEC2, just weeks after ISPOne entered administration, following court battles with Telstra.

Ferrier Hodgson also managed the administration of ISPOne, which owned iBoss, One Seniors, One Mile and One Telecom.
