CA launches free version of Nimsoft Monitor

Summary:Under the new version, CA is allowing Nimsoft Monitor Snap to be free for up to 30 monitored devices.

CA Technologies on Tuesday launched CA Nimsoft Monitor Snap, a free version of its Nimsoft Monitor software, which is used to manage and monitor information technology resources.

Under the new version, CA is allowing Nimsoft Monitor Snap to be free for up to 30 monitored devices. CA said that the aim is to provide a feature packed version of Nimsoft Monitor Snap without time limits.

The obvious goal for CA is to get Nimsoft Monitor Snap users to trade up when they move beyond 30 devices. CA added that Nimsoft Monitor Snap can be running in about an hour and can manage and monitor network, physical and virtual servers, storage and databases.

Nimsoft Monitor Snap also includes dashboards, alarms, and best practices. The software, built on the Nimsoft Monitor Release 7 code base, is also provided in English, Chinese, Japanese, Spanish, and Brazilian Portuguese.

For comparison purposes, Nimsoft Monitor Snap would compete with SolarWinds' monitoring tools and Spiceworks.
