CA provides network management infrastructure and core services for multi-vendor technology showcase.

ISLANDIA, N.Y., 11 July 2000 - Computer Associates International, Inc. (CA) today announced that CA's Unicenter TNG is being used as the enterprise management platform to control the core infrastructure in the newly constructed Microsoft Partner Solutions Center (MPSC) in Redmond, Wash.

CA will also provide advanced network management services to demonstrate viable and secure environments for e-business opportunities and offer technical knowledge to implement and support customers' data center environments.

Microsoft's new MPSC facility, a 21,000 square-foot technology center, is designed to enable customers to meet the growing demand for rapidly deployable solutions and services.

MPSC provides network operators with design, development, testing, integration and deployment assistance.

The Center also focuses on helping network service providers take advantage of new e-business opportunities including application hosting, broadband and TV services, voice-over Internet protocols, wireless applications and other e-commerce technologies.

To monitor and control the wide range of heterogeneous technologies employed within the global showcase, the MPSC will leverage Unicenter TNG.

Installed within the MPSC Network Operations Center (NOC), the heart of the facility's data center, Unicenter TNG will provide key metrics on the utilization of key systems, applications and other critical resources.

All customers who stage and build projects within the MPSC will also be able to use Unicenter TNG as a Core Network Management platform.

"Unicenter TNG will play an important ongoing role in the MPSC, assisting to create a stable and reliable environment for building customers' prototype architectures," said Michael Sandoval, senior group manager, Network Solutions Group at Microsoft Corp.

"Microsoft's products and platforms, in combination with Computer Associates network management systems will facilitate the MPSC's demonstration of secure environments for e-business opportunities and offer technical knowledge to implement and support customers' leading-edge data center environments."

In fulfilling its role as a Core Services provider to the MPSC, CA will provide network management integration assistance for technology and product briefings, proof-of-concept activities and subsequent support for visiting customers.

As the telecommunication industry is disaggregating into communication bandwidth providers and value-added service providers, CA will work with both to leverage its management and infrastructure solutions to create a framework for network and service management.

Unicenter TNG will play a role in authenticating and authorizing users through acess control management, protecting the MPSC environment from viruses through the AntiVirus Option, helping to ensure the highest levels of protection within its laboratores, data center, NOC, conference and training rooms.

CA will staff the center and participate in customer briefings and engagements in cooperation with Microsoft, hardware platform providers, network equipment providers, backbone and access providers, solution providers and systems integrators.

In addition to CA, participating MPSC partners include Compaq Computer Corp., Dell Computer Corp., Hewlett-Packard Co., Intel Corp., Lucent Technologies Inc. and Nortel Networks Corp.
