Microsoft Corp. and Nortel Networks Corp. announced today that the Microsoft Network will be the first ISP to offer Nortel's Internet Call Waiting service. Through its MSN Internet Access service, Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT), of Redmond, Wash., is offering Internet Call Waiting now in Atlanta, San Diego and Seattle. In the next several months, Microsoft will expand the service to 50 top metropolitan areas nationwide, officials said. The service uses an existing phone line to alert users who are online of an incoming call. When the call is received, the service alerts a user's PC with a pop-up screen and offers several options. Story to follow. --John Rendleman, PC Week Online
