CallNet claims success

Day three in the adventures of CallNet
Written by Justin Pearse, Contributor

CallNet's free Internet access service is up and running with thousands of satisfied users. That's the message from CallNet, which is in the process of clearing congestion problems on its registration line.

The company claimed last week it would be able to cope with the demand for registrations from day one. ZDNet has been inundated with emails from users who cannot register for the service.

But a CallNet spokesman is at pains to point out there are no problems with its ISP service, "as BT is trying to allude ."

CallNet was unable to reveal the number of successfully registered users but pointed out that it had received over 2m hits a day on its Web site. A spokesman said: "this totally vindicates our idea, the delays in processing registrations are beyond our control, but we are working with BT to resolve the situation."
