UK-based Cambrionix has made a built-to-order, 49-port USB 2.0 hub available to the public for £399, or approx. $657 USD.

Intended for professional test labs or businesses where host rigs must be protected against faulty USB devices, the second-generation hub is intense, requiring an ATX-2 power supply to spread 500mA across the hub's ports.

The device supports legacy speeds, and has a separate transaction translator for every port. Each port independently features Vbus current limit and low-ESR supply decoupling, complete with thermal protection and over-current shut-down.

Multiple rail regulators and localized clock generators optimize noise immunity and jitter performance, and large power planes ensure minimal supply voltage drop to all ports under maximum load conditions, the company says.
