Canon has just introduced the latest member of the VIXIA camcorder family. Based on the spec sheet, the VIXIA HF M32 looks like a standard digital camcorder, but maybe that just makes it reliable.

The VIXIA HF M32 is not targeted towards a professional crowd, but rather for use on family vacations. This also might be the first camcorder that has been specifically recommended for the "social-networking fanatic," which applies to most people who use the Internet.

Powered by the stand-up DIGIC DV III processor and hosting an HD CMOS sensor with 15x optical zoom, the most noteworthy feature on this Canon camcorder is the sheer amount of recording space. Not only is there already 64GB of on-board space, but there's also a SDXC slot that can bring the total amount of storage to 2TB. And for the social-networking obsessed, you can upload directly to Facebook with the Wi-Fi enabled Eye-Fi SD card that is also supported.

Otherwise, the upgrades from previous VIXIA models are subtle, but the 2.7-inch LCD touchscreen comes with the "Touch and Track" feature for auto-following subjects.

Canon's VIXIA HF M32 camcorder will go on sale in time for the school year this September for $999.99. If you happen to have an extra $600 lying around, you could also pick up a Canon WP-V2 Waterproof Case!
