HONG KONG -- America Online Inc. said its chairman, Steve Case, would join China.com Corp. chief executive Peter Yip and China Internet Corp. to launch the new AOL Hong Kong service next week.

The U.S. Internet services giant said in a statement it would hold a news conference to announce the details next Tuesday, Sept. 28.

AOL (NYSE:AOL) has been developing the Chinese-language AOL Hong Kong service in partnership with China Internet Corp. for several months.

AOL owns about eight percent of Nasdaq-listed China.com (Nasdaq:CHINA), which is a sister company of China Internet.

Both China.com and China Internet list China's official Xinhua News Agency as a shareholder.
