Chemical Brothers love MP3 - Liquid Audio deal

Throbbing dance superstars the Chemical Brothers have signed a deal with U.S. software firm Liquid Audio to produce a back catalogue of their music.

Liquid Audio , an advocate of the SDMI, produces its own downloadable digital music player that supports various formats including MP3, but claims to be "compliant with the goals of the Record Industry Association of America's Secure Digital Music Initiative (SDMI)."

The SDMI, launched earlier this year to combat the threat of digital music piracy, is still reeling from a report from Jupiter Communications which estimated no more than 3 per cent of consumers would buy digital music online by 2003.
