From Wired News:
An estimated 5 billion pounds of chicken feathers are available for uses other than mixing them into low grade cattle feed. Professor Richard Wool at the University of Delaware has figured out a method to recycle those chicken feathers for manufacturing circuit boards, replacing petroleum-based compounds, such as fiberglass.
"The basic goal is to introduce new green materials that will have a positive effect on the environment, reduce waste materials, provide a better bang for the farmers' buck and improve the current properties of petroleum-based printed circuit boards, which are not sustainable," Wool said.
