In 2004, sales of new semiconductor equipment in mainland China reached $2.73 bln, while sales of refurbished equipment came to an estimated $180 mln. Packaging materials came to $781 mln. Semiconductor equipment installed in China by the end of 2004 was capable of processing 106 mln square inches of silicon a year.
