Cisco invests in smart grid networking player

We're used to hearing about Cisco acquisitions fairly often, so it may not surprise you to hear that the company has invested an undisclosed amount in one of the smart grid network infrastructure players, GridNet. The company plans to use the money to "accelerate cooperative" efforts around product development and regulatory smart grid initiatives, among other things.

The company plans to use the money to "accelerate cooperative" efforts around product development and regulatory smart grid initiatives, among other things. Other key GridNet partners include General Electric, Motorola, Intel and Clearwire (the WiMAX player).
