Cisco stamps deadline on FlipShare Web service

Given that the Cisco already announced the end of the Flip camcorder last month, this news shouldn't come as a surprise: FlipShare is being phased out now too.

Given that the Cisco already announced the end of the Flip camcorder last month, this news shouldn't come as a surprise: FlipShare is being phased out now too.

According to The New York Times, still photos and videos uploaded to the FlipShare Web service prior to May 12 (yesterday) will expire after 30 days. However, if the movies were simultaneously uploaded to Facebook and YouTube, there shouldn't be any problems there. Otherwise, Flip owners who used FlipShare should start backing up their files now.

Nevertheless, FlipShare will still exist in its current form until December 13, 2013. Just don't forget about the 30-day time limit.

FlipShare is a few steps above YouTube for Flip customers as not only can users share videos, but they can also use the service to organize and edit clips too.
