Cisco Systems announced several enhancements to its security portfolio at the RSA show in San Francisco on Tuesday. The new products and features are part of Cisco's Self-Defending Network security strategy, which is supposed to help customers manage and mitigate risks in their networks.

As previously reported, the new features fit into three key areas: Anti-X defenses, which are technologies used to prevent and respond to network threats; application security, technologies that provide application-level access controls, software inspection and policy enforcement; and network control and containment, technology that incorporates auditing and correlation functions to improve network management.
