Citrix is adding new capabilities to its file sync and sharing service ShareFile. The company says the new features will help streamline document workflows, and increase productivity and collaboration across teams.

Some of the new features include built-in feedback and approval tools, a new web-based dashboard and interface, and the ability for users to preview file formats such as PDFs without having to leave the web browser.

Citrix says the redesigned dashboard and interface are aimed at making all the different tools and features on ShareFile more accessible. In other words, users will be able to do more in less time with easy-to-find actions and a straightforward design, the company said.

This quarter alone, Citrix has rolled out just under 40 releases to the ShareFile platform and tools, such as updates to the way ShareFile files are attached to emails, the addition of new cloud connectors, and support for uploads and downloads to Office 365 from the desktop app.

Overall, Citrix is pitching ShareFile as a tool that can help businesses transform into a mobile and digital office. The idea of digital transformation seems simple enough in today's day and age, but a surprising number of businesses -- an estimated 80 percent, per IDC -- still rely on paper for much of their document processes. With that type of market opportunity, IDC expects spending on digital transformation technologies to reach upwards of $732 billion in 2019.

Citrix has refocused the company on core businesses after announcing a deal to merge its GoTo unit with LogMeIn. Last month, Citrix CEO Kirill Tatarinov said the strategy is paying off. The company's Workspace Services unit showed growth and software-as-a-service sales were up 9 percent.
