Cloud recruiting platform snags $5 million

SmartRecruiters, which offers cloud-based recruiting software for small businesses, has raised $5 million in Series A financing from investors led by the Mayfield Fund.

The site provides a platform that small businesses can used for recruiting purposes. Among the services that it combines are integration with free job sites, job boards and social networks. So, for example, SmartRecruiters offers a Facebook application that lets small businesses create advertisements for job openings on their corporate Facebook page. The company builds mobile career sites for its users, so that job seekers can access information via Web-enabled smartphones and tablet computers.

The company gets its revenue from third-party recruiting services, which means that there aren't supposed to be any fees for small businesses that use the platform to search for employees.
