Cloudera and Capgemini extend partnership to ramp up big data deployments

Summary:The companies will work together to offer customers the Enterprise Data Hub Accelerator service and the Data Science-as-a-Service feature.

Enterprise Hadoop player Cloudera is extending its partnership with the French outsourcer and consultancy firm Capgemini.

The companies will work together to offer customers the Enterprise Data Hub Accelerator service, which is basically a big data deployment roadmap for enterprise customers, and also the Data Science-as-a-Service feature, which offers support focused on the analytical side of big data. Both features are designed to help organizations execute their first big data projects.

As part of the extended partnership, Capgemini is significantly accelerating its global investment in the Cloudera platform.

The companies initially teamed up last October, but according to Cloudera’s director of business development Rob Lancaster, the new features represent a natural progression of their professional partnership while also addressing the needs of customers who require more robust support when it comes to big data.

More specifically, Lancaster said there is a need to address the confusion customers have with Hadoop and how to apply it within the correct scenarios.

"Hadoop can be like a Swiss Army knife, it has a lot of capabilities and it can be overwhelming for organizations," he said. "So this offering, which will be led by Capgemini, focuses on getting customers on a path toward stable infrastructure."
