Comdex: Motorola previews new phone/email system
Speech recognition has made huge leaps in usability in the last few years. Digital dictation systems have become useful -- even practical. But speech recognition where you don't expect it is one of the the big stories at this year's Comdex.
Motorola's Lexicus Division has developed the Message Connect system. This combination of email and voice messaging can actually read you your email over the phone. You can then respond by dictating email back over the phone if the person is in your contact list. Motorola Message Connect will cost $149 (£93) and will ship next year. You need a Windows 95/98 PC.
