in brief Commander Communications has won a AU$1.2 million contract with Queensland-based MacDonnells Law.

Under the contract, Commander will make-over MacDonnells' IT environment in three offices: Brisbane, Cairns and Townsville.

As well as fitting out the law firm with new PCs and laptops, Commander will be responsible for providing a storage area network and network switching.

Commander will also kit out MacDonnells with new servers and introduce virtualisation from VMware, in addition to providing anti-spam and reporting software.

Nick Smith, ICT Director at MacDonnells, said in a statement: "Commander not only proposed the best solution to building the IT infrastructure we need, but they also committed to meeting our very tight installation deadline."

The deal follows two recent multimillion dollar managed-services contract wins for Commander, with the Salvation Army Employment Plus job network and drinks company Foster's.
