Compaq is recalling power adapters for its Compaq Armada 4100 notebooks, saying they have defective pins that could cause electrical shocks. However, the PC vendor says that the recall stems from internal testing and claims not to have had any customer complaints.

The situation is global and affects units manufactured between September 23 and November 20, 1996. Compaq says only adapters with part number 217984-001 or 217931-002 barcoded are affected but is checking all AC adapters with 217984-001 or 217931-002 part numbers.

Customers are asked to contact Compaq by telephone on 0800-894 3761 to get a replacement.
