Copyright in a new light

Seven years ago Richard Stallman wrote an article entitled Misinterpreting Copyright—A Series of Errors. One of the key concepts is that:“…copyright exists to benefit users… not for the sake of publishers or authors“And it slowly dawned on me that copyright was a device to prevent other publishers from exploiting authors, so that authors have an incentive to publish and therefore benefit society as a whole.
