Coupa acquires Xpenser, launches latest spend management suite

Summary:Coupa, which provides cloud-based spend management software, beefs up its expense management capabilities.

Coupa Software, which makes spend optimization software as a service, acquired Xpenser, an expense tracking outfit. Separately, Coupa rolled out its latest spend management suite.

For Coupa, the Xpenser purchase beefs up its expense management capabilities. Xpenser, which speeds up expense reports, is based in San Diego and founded in 2008. Terms of the deal weren't disclosed.



Coupa also launched Coupa 9, its latest release of spend management cloud services. The company added new features including:

  • Expense report creation.
  • Accounts payable dashboards to monitor invoices and payments.
  • Supplier invoicing tools. 
  • Mobile support for Android. 
  • Improved catalog management for purchasing supplies.

Coupa also rolled out a new sourcing module for self-service management, enforcement of pre-negotiated rates, and recommendations to save money. The company said Coupa 9 will be available April 19 and Coupa Sourcing will land in the second quarter.
