Cyrix still in the red
Cyrix remains in the red, losing $5.3 million for its second quarter on revenues of $40 million. In the year-ago quarter, Cyrix lost $16.4 million on revenue of $27.1 million.
The CPU maker nevertheless expects an improvement in the second half of the year, thanks to recent product releases such as the 6x86MX and faster versions of its MediaGX, a highly integrated processor that packs graphics and sound functions.
"Cyrix remains on track to achieve significant revenue growth and return to solid profitability in 1997," said Jay Swent, Cyrix's chief financial officer and acting chief executive officer.
