DataCore's DriveHarmony offers backup protection for Microsoft Windows Home Server

DataCore recently announced DriveHarmony, a backup solution for Microsoft's Windows Home Server 2011. The goal was making storage management easy for unsophisticated users. George Teixeira, President and CEO, Co-founder of DataCore, and his colleagues Carlos M. Carreras, Vice President of Alliances and Business Development and  Augie Gonzalez, Director of Product Marketing, stopped by to present DriveHarmony before dashing off to present the product at a conference. Because of my travel schedule, I've only been able to post my analysis now.

Users of a product such as Microsoft Windows Home Server 2011 are unlikely to have a great deal of software expertise and yet will be storing important documents, photos, videos and the like. So, it is likely that they will not understand how to protect their information, pool drives to create an easy-to-use environment, set up data caching that would accelerate storage performance or expand storage capacity. DriveHarmony was designed to take care of these tasks.

Although Microsoft Windows Home Server is a consumer, not a strategic IT platform, users could certainly benefit from storage virtualization.

I've followed DataCore over the years. The company has "earned its stripes" by offering storage virtualization products, such as SANsymphony. This is a company that understands how to create a powerful and easy-to-use product and I expect DriveHarmony will live up to the level set by DataCore's other products.
