Dell adds Aruba's Wi-Fi kit to its PowerConnect line-up

The rebadging deal expands Dell's networking portfolio beyond switches and service gateways, adding controllers, Wi-Fi access points and a wireless management suite

Dell is to resell Aruba's secure wireless-networking equipment under its PowerConnect brand, the companies announced on Tuesday.

The new PowerConnect W-Series will comprise controllers, Wi-Fi access points and Aruba's AirWave wireless management suite. The lineup expands Dell's enterprise wireless portfolio beyond the switches and service gateways — themselves rebadged Juniper and Brocade products — that currently constitute the PowerConnect line-up.

The Dell gear will include W-3000 Series controllers for mobile connectivity to business-critical data, voice and video applications. In addition, Dell will sell W-600 Series small business and branch office controllers that feature Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) and file/print server options. It will also offer a variety of access points — W-AP92/W-AP93 Single Radio, W-AP105 Dual-Radio, and W-AP124/W-AP125 Dual-Radio 3x3 MIMO — that all support 802.11a/b/g/n industry standards.

The products will become available this quarter to customers in the US, Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the UK. Other countries will get the PowerConnect W-Series in "the near future", the companies said.

The deal between Dell and Aruba is "multi-year" in scope, the companies said.
