AMD officially (and finally) unleashed its 2010 processor lineup yesterday, and Dell took the opportunity to launch its first desktop packing six-core Phenom II X6 processors—the Studio XPS 7100, starting at just $749.

For that price, you currently get a choice of CPU/GPU combination: Phenom II X6 1035T and ATI Radeon HD 5450 graphics; 1035T and Radeon HD 5670; or the Phenom II X6 1055T and Radeon HD 5450. The latter two are limited time offers, as is the ability to upgrade to the 1055T and Radeon HD 5670 for an additional $50. It also comes with 4GB of RAM and a 1TB hard drive.

You'll have to hurry up and wait when you place your order, as the shipping date for one of these systems isn't until May 27. But considering that you can't get a desktop running Intel's six-core processor (which is admittedly much more powerful) for under $2,000, this six-core option may be worth the wait.
