Dell to go slim and high with notebooks

Dell will add an extra dimension to its skyrocketing notebook business on Monday when it announces a slimline 1.5-inch thick machine, the Latitude CP.

The direct seller's move follows similar tactics from key rivals including IBM, Compaq and Fujitsu. The CP will sport a modular design and maintain Dell's tradition of offering long battery life by making two bays available for lithium ion units.

Also on Monday, Dell will also release its Inspiron model aimed at the high-end.
