Dimension Data fuels expansion plans with Nexus acquisition

The deal expands the company's nationwide footprint and boosts its plan to be a major player in the ICT sector across the US.

Dimension Data announced Wednesday its acquisition of California-based Nexus in a move that the ICT provider hopes will boost its nationwide footprint, particularly in the West, Southwest and Southeast regions.

Nexus provides IT services to enterprises, SMBs and public sector clients, with a focus on education, retail, hospitality and healthcare. By assuming 100 percent ownership of the company and its 19 offices nationwide, Dimension Data said it expands its operations by 40 percent while also beefing up its service portfolio.

The Nexus deal refocuses Dimension Data’s growth plans on the US market following its February acquisition of NextiraOne — an ICT provider with a European footprint spanning from Ireland to Slovakia.

Brett Dawson, CEO of Dimension Data, said in prepared remarks:

The acquisition of Nexus is a significant strategic step in enhancing the Group's geographic coverage and depth of skills and capabilities to support our clients. For over three decades, Dimension Data has been building expertise and experience in ICT solutions and services that deliver real business value to our clients. Nexus increases our ability to support both our US-based and global clients with significant West Coast presence.

Financial details of the deal were not disclosed.
