As NSW draws closer to releasing its killer plan for the state's IT, has the government shown it understands technology at all?

The state's Finance and Services Minister, Greg Pearce, last week brought together 80 high-powered IT industry representatives to comment and contribute to the state's ICT strategy.

Pearce said that the new strategy, to be delivered within weeks, would have a focus on the simplification of existing IT and implement whole-of-government delivery targets.

Getting the companies that are likely to respond to future requests for tender to contribute to the underlying strategy might be good in theory, but I have a sneaking suspicion that there will be a massive amount of shameless self-promotion when it comes to reading the responses from industry.
