Doing the VMworld Dance, Day 1

VMworld experiences - so far, VMware's representatives have been friendly, helpful and have done their best to make analysts feel welcome. This approach seems significantly different from that taken by some suppliers of application, development tool, data management, virtualization and system software.

It is the season for trade shows (see Doing the trade show dance for some analysis of trade shows and their various sponsors.) I'm sitting in a conference room at VMware's VMworld and am facing a full schedule of meetings with VMware, VMware's partners, subscribers to both The 451 Group's and Tier1 Research's clients) and, I hope, with organizations using all of this lovely technology.

So far, VMware's representatives have been friendly, helpful and have done their best to make analysts feel welcome. This approach seems significantly different from that taken by some suppliers of application, development tool, data management, virtualization and system software.

4 PM Update

The analyst briefing sessions were quite interesting.  VMware clearly has a strong vision about the future of virtualization technology. It's going to be interesting to see how it unfolds as real products.
