The company is the first in the UK to offer such a quantity of free content. The aim of the site is to reproduce the experience of visiting a book store. Users will be able to look inside books at selected pages or read whole books. The company aims to put around 10 percent of its books online in their entirety by January.

Peter Kindersley, executive chairman of Dorling Kindersley, is not worried users will print off whole books, pointing out the expense of printer cartridges.
