E-commerce to grow with digital television

SINGAPORE, 7 June 2000 -- The BroadcastAsia2000 conference, held under the ambit of CommunicAsia2000, saw Dr Richard Chernock, Senior Engineer at IBM, speaking on developments in digital television (DTV) and how e-commerce transactions could be generated via DTV.

Already, in terms of market penetration in the UK, the build up of integrated digital television sales is expected to be twice the total amount of sales for analogue wide screen television and digital terrestrial television set top boxes by the year 2010.

As it stands, the growth in integrated digital television is expected to mirror that of WAP enabled phones. This bodes well for all parties, from advertisers to content providers, as e-commerce finds another springboard to launch itself from.
