Eastman Chemical orders online
Chemicals maker Eastman Chemical said Monday that it recently began ordering supplies online in an effort to phase out the less efficient method of placing orders by fax. The new system, from software company Yantra, allows the Kingsport, Tenn.-based manufacturer to send purchase orders to as many as 1,000 suppliers it buys from regularly, but who are not equipped to process orders via Electronic Data Interchange networks. The online purchasing hub, accessible to suppliers via Web browser, is set up to exchange data with Eastman's order management and accounting system from SAP, reducing the need for manual data entry.
