Echelon ships new energy management appliance

Echelon's new SmartServer helps distributed enterprises get a quick handle on energy management.
Written by Heather Clancy, Contributor

Smart grid player Echelon has updated its SmartServer energy manager, which helps link energy consumption data and other information from network attached devices to enterprise software applications and smart grid management software.

Here's what it looks like:

SmartServer 2.0 is being billed as an easier device to install than its predecessor. It is intended chiefly for distributed networks, such as bank branches, retail chain stores or restaurants, and it has been updated with network management utilities so that it can be used (if you want) as a broader network manager rather than simply an energy management device. Here's the complete press release, if you're looking for more details.
