A module for monitoring solar technology generation is one of the new features in the latest edition of the FIDO Home Energy Watchdog system. Actually, the module can accommodate information from several different types of alternative energy sources, including solar, wind or emergency generators.

FIDO Home Energy Monitoring System is an integrated hardware and software solution from EcoDog that allows you to build a room-by-room representation of the energy usage across your house.

It includes analytics that examine usage trends and then offer up personalized suggestions for cutting energy consumption. The new module takes things a step further by keeping tabs on the energy created by your alternative energy technology (if you have some). Here's a statement from the EcoDog CEO Ron Pitt bout why the company has added the new module:

"In our pilot release programs, EcoDog FIDO systems have proven so useful at helping homeowners improve their residential energy efficiency, we started receiving requests from solar power distributors who wanted to help their customers maximize the return on their alternative energy investments. By adding solar monitoring features to FIDO, we believe that we now offer the only alternative energy monitoring system with this level of granularity that also records actual dollars saved while providing a live dashboard of energy generated."
