Parking at Best Buy is going to get cleaner and greener thanks to ECOtality's EV Project to bring its Blink EV charging stations for electric vehicles to the tech retailer's parking lots.

Funded by the U.S. Department of Energy, the EV Project will eventually grow into the installation of 15,000 commercial and residential charging stations in 16 major metropolitan areas in six states.

By March 2011, the Blink EV stations will hit 12 Best Buy stores to start off with in Tucson, Ariz., Phoenix, Ariz., Los Angeles, Calif., San Diego, Calif., and Seattle, Wash. Apparently these are "strategic" locations based on geographic location, population density and distance to major highways as well as other EV Project charging facilities.

If all goes well and this turns out to be a popular endeavor, we could be seeing these EV charging stations at Best Buy lots all around the country in a few years.
