EMC maintains storage market share lead, field heats up

Summary:EMC maintained its healthy market share lead in storage systems for the fourth quarter, but the field is getting more competitive.

EMC maintained its healthy market share lead in storage systems for the fourth quarter, but the field is getting more competitive.

Overall, fourth quarter external storage system revenue was $6.1 billion, up 16.2 percent from a year ago.  Total disk storage systems were up 14.3 percent from a year ago. The trends for the fourth quarter were similar to previous ones. EMC and NetApp showed the fastest growth.
