A band of analysts and industry experts have formed Enterprise Advocates, an advisory group geared to the buy side of the information technology equation.

The group, which includes ZDNet's Dennis Howlett and Oliver Marks, is a timely addition to the tech buying equation. In addition to Howlett and Marks, a roster of former Gartner and Forrester analysts round out the roster. Ray Wang, of the Altimeter Group, Vinnie Mirchandani of Deal Architect, and Frank Scavo of Strativa are also on the Enterprise Advocates roster.

What's notable about Enterprise Advocates launch is how individual analysts and experts can band together quickly. Collectively, the group has 100 years of practical and consulting experience with $10 billion in negotiated contracts. Wang notes:

"The buy side has never had a strong voice in the IT community or in the media. We plan to change that by surfacing and advising on issues that some technology vendors might find uncomfortable but which are essential if the promise of value from technology is to be realized."

The group notes that it's mission is to focus on the return on investment for enterprise buyers. To that end, the Enterprise Advocates is holding a Webinar focused on SAP customers Oct. 22. Here are the details:

The inaugural one-hour webinar is planned for 22nd October ( 9:00 am PDT/ 12:00 pm EDT/ 4:00 pm GMT / and 5:00 pm CET) and will focus on helping SAP customers understand what they are dealing with, how maintenance can be managed, what alternatives are available, how to build a long-term contract negotiations strategy aligned with the organization's applications strategy, and why buyers must act now. Time is set aside for Q&A and, should the session run out of time before all questions are answered, then full answers will be offered at the website following the webinar. Interested individuals may register at the following link: https://www2.gotomeeting.com/register/435331515.

Wang, Mirchandani, Howlett and Scavo are the speakers.
