On Thursday, research firm ZapThink announced their findings that enterprise spending on RIAs will exceed the $500 million mark in the next 5 years. The full report is available for purchase and looks to be a very interesting read for those of us interested. I'm going to email them about getting a copy I can talk about here on ZDNet.

The spending amount covers only the enterprise, where RIA adoption has had the biggest question mark so far. The report goes on to cite six major areas where RIAs are helping the enterprise: "enhancement of existing web applications, high-transaction and event-driven Internet applications, next-generation portals, enhanced business intelligence solutions, application modernization, and peer-to-peer or mashup solutions."

We knew there was a lot of money in the enterprise, but this does help confirm that big companies are investing in Rich Internet Applications.
