Sun seemingly was not prepared for the flood of developers attempting to download the open-source version of StarOffice, which Sun made available on Friday on the www.openoffice.org site. "At about 5:45am PST, our web server was brought down by a veritable tsunami of hits," read a message posted on the openoffice.org site. But Sun and its open-source partner CollabNet still found a way to make the source and binary files available on the site to those wishing to hack the code. Sun promised the full site would be operational as soon as possible. - Mary Jo Foley, ZDNet News
