At the When 2.0 conference I had a video chat with Brian Dear, CEO of EVDB Inc., now known as eventful.com.  Dear describes eventful.com as both a Web site for finding, contributing and sharing events, venues and calendars, and as a Web services platform for building applications and mashups, such as EVmapper, which links maps to events.  Eventful.com is one of many new startups dealing with time-based events and calendaring. Others in various stages of development include Zvents, TrumbaZimbra,  Yahoo's Upcoming.orgRenkoo, Chandler, Meetup, Airena's AirSet. And, let's not forget about Google, which has long been rumored to launch a calendar service as part of its communications suite, as well as improvements in calendar services from the other heavyweights.
