Excite and GMail block 39% of permission-based e-mail

Mistaking legitimate e-mail for spam, e-mail providers failed to deliver 21% of permission-based e-mail to consumer inboxes during the first half of 2005, compared to 22% during all of 2004, Return Path survey says. Mac.com topped the list of the most realiable services, blocking only 8% of permission-based e-mail, followed by Earthlink and USA.net, which each blocked 10%. Excite and Gmail were at the bottom of the list with 39%, followed by MSN with 33%, and Hotmail, which blocked or filtered 32%
