ExoPC Slate tablet computer takes on iPad with Windows 7, Flash support

Look familiar at all? You're not alone as other tech bloggers have been noticing the ExoPC Slate's striking resemblance to Apple's iPad. But it's what is on the inside that counts, and these two are fairly different.

Look familiar at all? You're not alone as other tech bloggers have been noticing the ExoPC Slate's striking resemblance to Apple's iPad. But it's what is on the inside that counts, and these two are fairly different.

Blending the beauty of an iPad with the specs of a netbook, the ExoPC Slate could very well provide some competition for the Apple tablet computer.

Some of the notable specs:

  • 8.9-inch color touchscreen
  • Intel Atom N270 1.6GHz processor
  • Integrated Intel Graphics GMA950
  • Windows 7
  • 2 GB of DDR2 memory
  • 32 GB solid-state drive
  • SD/MMC card reader
  • Bluetooth
  • Wi-Fi

It has most of the features the iPad is also promising: books, movies, music, applications and a large touchscreen keyboard. Two of the big complaints about the iPad so far have been lack of a built-in camera and Flash support - both of which that the ExoPc Slate has. (But neither operate as a phone.)

The catch? Right now, it looks like its only available en Français. If this works for you, then you can have it in March for $780 (550€).
