Factory revenues for external disk storage systems grew 3.5% YTY to $3.4 bln in Q3 2004, according to IDC. EMC claimed the first spot with 21.2% of revenue share in the external disk storage systems market, posting a 17.4% YTY gain in revenue during the quarter. Hewlett Packard had 19% of the market, and saw revenue dip 7.5% YTY. IBM came in third with 13.1% market share. Network Appliance posted the strongest YTY revenue growth during Q3, with 24.6% growth.
