Sydney's Linux community took a blow last week, losing EverythingLinux founder Anthony Rumble to what appeared to be a tragic home accident.

Anthony has in the past made a huge contribution to the Sydney Linux Commuity and Linux in general

EverythingLinux was one of the first local retailers to bring Linux lovers' merchandise, including software but also T-shirts and badges, for example, to the Australian community after the free operating system took off in the early 1990s.

According to a note posted on the Sydney Linux Users' Group (SLUG) site written by Grant Parnell, fellow EverythingLinux employee and professed best mate of Rumble, the EverythingLinux founder died last Friday night after a dinner out with friends. Although the coroner had not as yet confirmed the cause of death, Parnell believed Rumble to have slipped and fell in his bathroom.

"Anthony has in the past made a huge contribution to the Sydney Linux Commuity and Linux in general in terms of promoting it to businesses and hobbyists through both the store, the website and for many years before, through SLUG, indeed he was involved with SLUG from its humble beginning," Parnell said.

Aside from his time at EverythingLinux, Rumble had also worked for NetComm Australia, Microplex and Corporate Express Australia.

Rumble left behind a daughter, brother, parents and girlfriend. The funeral will be held 11:30 next Monday, 18th May 2009 at the Macquarie Park Crematorium. ZDNet.com.au wishes to pass on our condolences to Rumble's family.
