The Mozilla Foundation announced today that the first release candidate for Firefox 1.0 is ready, though the main page still points (for me, anyway) to the first preview release instead. Get the real thing here and help kick the wheels before the final 1.0 release. For those who find testing "beta" software intimidating, don't worry. I've been using Firefox steadily since it hit 0.8, and it's been as stable as any browser I've used. Still using IE? You owe it to yourself to give Firefox a shot. The pop-up blocking, RSS and tabbed browsing features make it a joy to use. There are, sad to say, still some sites that are incompatible with Firefox (or any browser that isn't IE) but they are few and far between.
